M-1951 Short Length Field Trousers | Olive

Outer-layer field trousers in cotton sateen, adopted by the U.S. Army in 1951 as the shell component of the M-51 cold-weather combat system. The system was layered from the skin out: undershirt and drawers next to the body, wool field shirt and trousers above, and these cotton field trousers paired with the matching field jacket on top.

Every M-51 piece was cut roomy by design - the additional volume traps body heat while sealing out cold air. A cord loop on the inside of the waistband accepts the metal clips of suspenders, allowing the trouser to be worn with full bulk underneath without dragging at the waist.
